Two worthy champions immerged on the final day of the Nike 6.0 Prime event at Trestles. Hawaiian pocket rocket Keanu Asing was victorious in the juniors riding the FCS WT-1, and Brazilian rising star Miguel Pupo punted all the way to the bank in the men’s division riding the FCS PC-5.
Having won the ASP 1-Star Unsound Pro Junior in New York the week prior, Keanu came into the Nike 6.0 event on a high. His rapid-fire backhand approach proved too strong in the small but highly shredible conditions. Asing’s choice of fin also playing a factor in the smaller waves.
“I’ve been riding the new Glass Flex Wade Tokoro fin (FCS WT-1). I really like riding the composite fins in smaller surf because they have more spring and flex”.
From his first heat Miguel looked like a contender for the men’s title. His momentum built with every heat as he combined smooth flowing turns with highly technical airs. Miguel has been a longtime advocate of the FCS PC-5 due to the versatile nature of this fin.
“I love the PC-5. I use them every time I surf because they feel great to do big carves and maintain speed for airs”.
The Nike 6.0 event at Trestles produced some of the most progressive surfing ever seen in competition. FCS is proud to support a world class team of surfers as they continue to raise the bar on performance.
