Rob Drew: Doing It Himself

BOARDS_5

You’ve surfed the professionals, but have you every surfed your own. Rob Drew shapes his own for friends and family using Xtra Foam Surf Blanks.

Triocean Surf is the UK distributors of XTRA Foam Surf Blanks, they are imported from Durban, South Africa and sold to some of the UK’s top shapers, such as:  Luke Young Surfboards, Luke Hart of Fourth Surfboards, Graeme Bunt of Local Hero Surfboards, Dave Farrow of Many Returns and Karma Surfboards, Adrian Phillips of Fluid Juice Surfboards and Matt Adams of Adams Surfboards.

We have a constant stock of blanks ranging from shortboards to minimals to longboards.

We love hearing about customers’ board making projects and Robert Drew has shared his experience of making his very own surfboards.

All of the boards are single concave, with the smallest and largest only having very shallow concave and much flatter rocker. The art is hand painted on the blank with acrylics.

Robert made the larger two boards for friends and the smaller two are for his Autumn trip down the west coast of Europe.
“They’ve not got wet yet, but I’ll be living in Exeter for August and I can’t wait to try them out!”
