Description
FCS 6ft Classic Surfboard Leash
Your surfboard leash is your most important piece of kit second only to your board and fins. Make sure you get it right, stop your board going rogue and keep everyone else in the lineup safe.
The key things to consider when buying a leash are length and strength. Think about the length of your board and choose a leash that is either equal to that or slightly longer. If your board is in between sizes then you should usually round up depending on your ability level. Too long and it will add unnecessary drag in the water slowing you down. Too short and it’s more likely to cause you to fall on your board or for the board to ping back at you once the leash is fully stretched.
Then, consider the size and/or type of waves you’ll be surfing and choose accordingly. The cord diameter is the key, however, most leash manufacturers will specify a wave height range which you’ll find in the spec below. Comp leashes are made thinner as the focus is on performance and reducing drag when it matters most.
