Description
Luke Young Twin Fin Fish “Mahi 2″ (5’8”)
Finding its place between your grovel board and standard shortboard, the Mahi 2 will bring the fun back to your sessions.
Capable of surfing vertically this twin fin shortboard will offer more than your average retro fish. The foiled out (thinner) tail and rails in the rear of the board give responsiveness and you the ability to sink the rail. This allows you to push and drive through turns much harder like you would on your standard shortboard.
The vector net tail and carbon strip additional stringer increase stiffness and give the board a responsive feel under foot.
This isn’t to say that the Mahi 2 is without the stability, glide and speed expected from a twin fin fish – far from it. The wide point is ahead of centre and the entry rocker is relaxed. The rails are full and the deck flat under chest giving great paddle speed and wave-catching ability.
On the underside there’s a single concave in the front half directing water flow and providing lift and speed. This splits towards the rear of the board to a double concave with the stringer line getting progressively higher than the rail line. This helps split the flow of water separately through the fins and increases the rail rocker line in the tail, providing a high performance shortboard feel.
Blending high performance with speed and flow, this board will fill a gap in most quivers. Easy wave catching, plenty of speed and flow plus the ability to drive through turns better than your grovel board.
