Waiting around London Paddington Station for the delayed train back to the shire, I wondered around the W H Smith magazine section and found myself by the “surfing magazine” section. Glancing through Wavelength, Surf Europe and Surfers Path, I decided to pick up Carve Magazine.
It wasn’t util I was finally on the train, which was delayed, and running slower due to the UK Storm of 2013, I had a proper read. I was extremely happy to find images of the local (Bantham) featured, and looking good. So I thought I’d share these images with you.
The first image, our very own Dave Grover reckons he ‘may’ have been one of the three surfers in the line up, lucky sod.
To top that off it was good to see some local names in podium finish for the 21st Jesus Surf Classic at Croyde Bay.
Local ripper and lifeguard Jason MacBroom finishing 4th in the open. He was surfing James Brands, OC Surfboards base in Old Chapel Bigbury. The secret to James boards is his shaping knowledge, and of course the Xtra Foam surf blanks be uses from us.
In the Cadets & U14 category Joe Harding, a Triocean Team rider, took 1st spot, which he was very pleased about. Joe surfs Luke Young Surfboards, which also take Xtra Foam surf blanks.
Finally the young Noah Capps, who’s blog you can see here: Noah Capps, micro surfer, finished in 3rd place. Noah is our youngest team rider and is also sponsored by Luke Young Shapes.
All the above riders are also sponsored by Xcel Wetsuits. Check them out online, or come into the store, it’s starting to get a little nippy out there, and we’ve got a very good range of winter suits in.
