HANG TEN YOGA: Yoga For Surfers

With the short winter days, heavy un-surfable waters, take some time to strengthen, recover and de-stress.

Emma who is a fully certified yoga teacher specialising in yoga for surfers, takes classes & private sessions. She is also registered with Yoga Alliance and Yoga Alliance UK, which is a recognised teaching qualification throughout the yoga community.

She mentions the benefits of yoga for surfing performance, which include:

  • Opened & Increased Flexibility
  • Reduce Risk of Injury

Yoga has been recoginsed throughout the surfing industry as a great practice and essential for improving your surfing, you may notice a lot of surfers, especially in the World Tour circuits preparing for heats with some basic yoga stretches.

In an article from SURFER Magazine, former pro surfer Gerry Lopez aka Mr. Pipeline (Pipeline, Hawaii), talks about how you can: “Save your surfing with yoga.”

Emma is running a specialist yoga class for surfers on Saturday 11th January from 9:30 – 10:45 at the Hen House, Kingsbridge. 

The session will cost you £10, and all equipment will be provided. Just turn up in some comfortable clothing and get ready to start improving your surfing.
