Billabong Pro Rio 2012 Under-way

May 9 2012 Categories: News

Despite the current webcast technical difficulties, the Billabong Pro Tour Rio De Janerio, Brazil has commenced in 3-4 foot sunny conditions.

The previous Men’s ASP World Tour event took place on Bells Beach, Australia, where Mick Fanning defeated 11 time world champion Kelly Slater in the final.

In the women’s world title, the previous event took place on Dee Why, Northern Australia, where rookie surfer Courtney Conlogue. The Californian took top honours, defeating Hawaiian rookie Malia Manuel in the final.

So far the men’s and women’s world title run top five looks like this but could well change with the top seed Kelly Slater pulling out of this leg of the competition due to injury.
