What board ? I'm a novice/improver, male/female of larger build.
Ok then, you're, shall we say of 'generous' build, male or female, you can stand up on the surf school surfboards but want to know what surfboard is for you...
SOFTBOARDS: If your big go for float. Minimum of 8ft up to the big boys 10fter.
MINI MALS: Look for 8ft & 3" thick full volume distribution in the surfboard as a minimum.
LONGBOARDS : IDEAL! 9ft plus surfboards. Our 9'2" to 9'6" Bantham Specials are the surfboards for YOU !
SHORTBOARDS: Unless you surf regularly then short boards aren't really for you.
less volume means you have to paddle harder which saps energy quickly in the shorebreak...There are hundreds of big guys riding shortboards out there but don't be fooled, they have strong upper bodies through regularly surfing their craft..If you're just on holiday, you'll never keep up & will tire more quickly.
ADVISE IS: Start long & work your way down gradually.
